“What Do I Do With It” Part 7

Cushions!  You can never have too many.  There are endless styles and shapes available in the marketplace but hooking your own allows you to customize the design, size and color to suit your décor.  In addition, they will be one of a kind accessories that will make a statement in your home.  This is one aspect in decorating that is so easily changed to suit the seasons and of course, the holidays.  Cushions are a décor element that aren’t  a commitment so this is where you can experiment and play. Whether for the chair, sofa or even the floor, these projects are relatively quick to complete which will appeal to those who require instant gratification.   In addition to wool, silk and other alternative fibers can be used freely since they will not be trod upon.   Wool is wonderfully cozy for the colder months but consider silk ribbon for the summer.  The cool, silkiness of the ribbon is a fresh change for when the weather gets warm.  The pink “Tulip” pillow above was hooked almost entirely in silk with the exception of the background.   Excellent splash of color on my deck furniture.  Allowing yourself to indulge in something daring is not at all intimidating in a small project such as this.  This one was very “outside-the-box” for me.  I kind of like it out here.

  1. Martina – Is the background on the latest pillow a chair made from willow branches or some sort of twigs. It is quite effective. I was never a paisley fan – but am quite taken with that Pillow. The colours are amazing. See you soon if it ever stops raining. Arlene

  2. Hi Martina, I am always amazed at your creativity and style!
Thank you for all you do for us!
