Easy Pillow Finishing

In this 2 hour mini workshop you will learn how to finish your hooked piece into a pillow. No sewing machine required. This is my method of creating a pillow without any sewing knowledge required. This pillow will be fully closed so you will not be able to remove the insert. Experienced sewers will be able to use their expertise on future projects to use this method and add zippers or sham stye overlap for easy removal of inserts. We will be outdoors, under tents so if weather is not favourable, we will reschedule.

What to bring to class:

Finished hooked mat pressed and at least 2 inched of linen around hooked area. It is suggested but not necessary to either serge or straight stitch around the 2″ perimeter as you would prior to whipping.

Backing fabric that you want to use on the back side of your pillow. (fabric can also be purchased in the studio) Backing fabric should be at least 2 inches bigger than the front.

Whipping yarn

Whipping or large eye darning needle. If your backing is cotton or a tight weave fabric other than wool, it is suggested to bring a sharp needle

Synthetic pillow form for inserting into pillow. Buy one that is 2 sizes larger than your hooked piece. 12″ pillow – 14″ insert
