It is by far, my favourite time of the year. I realize that in nature, autumn marks the end, but in our world it marks the beginning. As the weather starts to cool, rug hookers are drawn back to our wool stashes and new projects. We gather again for our “hook ins” and eagerly anticipate the wonderful events and festivals the new season brings each year.
The Woodstock Fleece Festival is the event not to be missed. If you work with wool…. love, eat and sleep wool….then this festival is for you. It truly is “Woolstock” and it offers an incredible array of products by local producers and vendors. This festival is a feast for rug hookers, knitters, weavers, felters, spinners and basically anyone that enjoys working with wool. The festival is held on Saturday, October 13th, 2018 from 9-5 at the Woodstock Fairgrounds. Click on this link to the website to see the list of vendors, workshops and schedules of demos. https://fleecefestival.com/ We are looking forward to vending again at the festival and are eager to show our new products. Our new Studio Natural dyed and over dyed texture line will be featured in our booth as well as the newest arrivals in the silk line and wool textures. If you haven’t been in the studio lately, you will also be able to test out our new line of Irish hooks. There are 82 vendors this year, so plan to spend the day as there is so much to see!
2nd Annual “A Day In the Country” BBQ & Hook In
Looking back, I would like to thank everyone for attending our “A Day In the Country” BBQ and Hook In. I’m pleased to say that we raised 2100.00 for the Hooked Rug Museum of North America from the sale of raffle tickets. Thank you, ladies, for your generosity. The weather was perfect and the day was best described as merry. We had a lot of fun and we hope that you did too. The numerous photos you posted on social sites truly captures the spirit of the day. I would also like to thank all the volunteers….it would have been impossible without your help. We will be hosting another in 2019 and will announce the date in the Winter Newsletter after the holidays. To subscribe to our newsletter, fill out your name and email in the space at the bottom of the page of the website.
Enjoy the rest of summer! Sweater weather will soon be here.
