Sarah Skrlj is a fabulous artist who also happens to be my niece. She attended the University of Guelph where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her artwork is incredibly intricate, elegant and detail oriented. I have long admired her talent and have been intrigued by the possibility of adapting her work into rug hooking patterns. She agreed and has since produced a number of beautiful designs which I am so pleased to offer on the pattern pages of the studio website. These are but a few of the patterns she has designed. You will notice that these designs are sophisticated and well balanced, which are current and on trend for today’s interiors. They are also timeless and therefore will be cherished for many generations. A wonderful feature of her designs is that some of them are repeating and can be made into longer patterns. The versatility of the designs allows me to offer them as runner as you will notice with Miranda. It is available in two different styles of runners which can be seen on the pattern pages. Due to the fine detail of these patterns a finer cut of wool may be required in order to accentuate the details and intricacy of the design. For many years I have hooked with an 8 cut strip which I have enjoyed immensely. However, my work has begun to evolve to include finer detailed rugs and I am drawn to Sarah’s designs for my next rug project. The difficult part will be deciding which one I will hook first.
These patterns are just a sampling of the complete line. There are many more to come and will be posted as soon as the sizes are finalized. Keep checking back here or on the pattern pages under “Sarah Skrlj Designs” for more additions.
